Despite attempts from Governors Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis to attack former President Donald Trump at the last GOP debate, Trump still managed to come out as the “big winner” as his lead continues to increase over his rivals.
Trump maintains a roughly 50-point lead over the GOP field.
Haley criticized Trump’s presidency, while DeSantis took on a more aggressive confrontation.

“Donald Trump is missing in action. He should be here on this stage tonight. He owes it to you to defend his record,” DeSantis said immediately.
“He was the right president at the right time. I don’t think he’s the right president now,” Haley said of Trump.
Vivek Ramaswamy called Haley “Dick Cheney in three-inch heels,” to which she responded, “I’d first like to say they’re five-inch heels, and I don’t wear them unless you can run in them.”
The debate largely focused on Haley and DeSantis, overshadowing other candidates such as Chris Christie and Tim Scott.
The two got heated when discussing fracking, as Haley told him to “own it” if he’s a “liberal on the environment.”
“We’re absolutely going to frack, but I disagree with Nikki Haley. I don’t think it’s a good idea to drill in the Florida Everglades, and I know most Floridians agree with me,” DeSantis shot back.
The discussion delved into issues such as fracking, drilling in Florida, and economic policies.
The overall sentiment suggests that a future debate involving only Haley, DeSantis, and Trump would be beneficial for voters.
