The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) conducted a study on binge drinking, finding that Britain ranked high on the list of countries with the most binge drinkers, losing only to Romania and Denmark.
The study also revealed that men drink more than women in every country studied, with nearly one in five adults reporting heavy episodic drinking at least once a month.
“Nearly one in five adults (19%) reported heavy episodic drinking at least once a month, on average across 29 countries in 2019,” the study read. (Trending: Is It Time For Joe Biden To Drop Out Of 2024?)
“This proportion varies 10-fold, from less than 3% in Turkey and Italy to more than 30% in Germany, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and Denmark, as well as Romania.”
The OECD suggested measures such as minimum unit pricing and warning labels on alcohol products to tackle harmful alcohol use.
