Four current and former Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department employees have died by suicide in a 24-hour period, shocking the law enforcement community.

The deaths included a commander and a sergeant, prompting the department to investigate and offer further support.

The sheriff highlighted the importance of checking on colleagues’ well-being and expressed urgency in addressing work stress factors. (Trending: Federal Court Rules Against Gun Owners)

“We are stunned to learn of these deaths, and it has sent shock waves of emotions throughout the department as we try and cope with the loss of not just one, but four beloved active and retired members of our department family,” Sheriff Robert Luna stated.

“During trying times like these it’s important for personnel regardless of rank or position to check on the well-being of other colleagues and friends,” the sheriff added.

These tragic events have raised concerns about the impact of anti-police sentiment and pandemic-related challenges on law enforcement morale and staffing.
