Former President Barack Obama publicly expressed his support for Joe Biden despite growing concerns within the Democratic Party about Biden’s 2024 candidacy.

Obama shared a video celebrating their 2008 victory and praised Biden as an excellent vice president and friend.

“For eight years, [Biden] and I worked to deliver change for the American people,” Obama began.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better Vice President and friend — and we’ll always be thankful to all the campaign staff and Administration alumni who helped bring that progress to folks across the country. Yes we can. Yes we did,” Obama said.

This statement contrasts with calls from various Democrats, including Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod and comedian Bill Maher, for Biden to drop out of the 2024 race due to concerns about his poll numbers and potential loss to Donald Trump.

“Someone has to convince President Biden that if he runs again, he’s going to turn the country back over to Trump and go … down in history as Ruth Bader Biden, the person who doesn’t know when to quit and so does great damage to their party and their country,” Bill Maher pressed.

Even staunch Never Trumpers like Bill Kristol have urged Biden to step down and pass the torch to the next generation.

“It’s time. President Biden has served our country well. I’m confident he’ll do so for the next year,” Bill Kristol said.

“But it’s time for an act of personal sacrifice and public spirit,” he continued.

“It’s time to pass the torch to the next generation. It’s time for Biden to announce he won’t run in 2024,” Kristol concluded.
