Former White House attorney Ty Cobb predicts that former President Donald Trump will more than likely end up in jail due to his violation of a gag order.

Trump is facing two gag orders related to his social media attacks on individuals involved in his court cases.

One order resulted in a $10,000 fine, while the other, overseen by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, is deemed more significant.

Cobb believes that the judge will impose a heavier penalty, and that Trump may spend a night or even a weekend in jail to deter him from further violations.

“I think she’ll come in with a much heavier penalty,” Cobb said. “And ultimately, I think he’ll spend a night or a weekend in jail. I think it’ll take that to stop him.”

Trump has criticized the gag order placed on him by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, calling it an assault on his First Amendment rights.

The order prohibits Trump from making public comments targeting prosecutors, court staff, and potential witnesses in the case regarding his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Chutkan temporarily lifted the order but reinstated it after prosecutors cited Trump’s recent social media comments as an attempt to influence and intimidate a likely witness. (Trending: Two Democrats Arrested and Charged)

Trump argued that the order is unconstitutional and restricts his right to free speech during his presidential campaign.

Trump gave his response on Truth Social: “I have just learned that the very Biased, Trump-Hating Judge in D.C., who should have RECUSED herself due to her blatant and open loathing of your favorite President, ME, has reimposed a GAG ORDER which will put me at a disadvantage against my prosecutorial and political opponents.”

“This order, according to many legal scholars, is unthinkable! It illegally and unconstitutionally takes away my First Amendment Right of Free Speech, in the middle of my campaign for President, where I am leading against BOTH Parties in the Polls,” continued Trump. “Few can believe this is happening, but I will appeal. How can they tell the leading candidate that he, and only he, is seriously restricted from campaigning in a free and open manner? It will not stand!”

Chutkan had previously written in 2021, “The court holds that the public interest lies in permitting—not enjoining—the combined will of the legislative and executive branches to study the events that led to and occurred on January 6, and to consider legislation to prevent such events from ever occurring again.”

Chutkan has been known for giving harsh sentences to January 6 defendants and ruled that Trump’s White House records could be turned over to the investigating committee.
