New York City Mayor Eric Adams is offering to fly migrants to their desired destinations as the city’s shelters are overflowing.

The move comes as red states have been ushering migrants to blue states and cities like New York.

Adams has set up a center in Manhattan to book plane tickets for asylum seekers who want to leave the city.

“When you are out of room, that means you’re out of room,” Adams stated. “Every year, my relatives show up for Thanksgiving, and they want to all sleep at my house. There’s no more room. That’s where we are right now.”

City officials then argued that this effort is unique in that migrants are not being coerced to leave.

“With no sign of a decompression strategy in the near future, we have established a reticketing center for migrants,” a spokesperson for Mayor Adams stated.

“Here, the city will redouble efforts to purchase tickets for migrants to help them take the next steps in their journeys, and it helps us triage operations at The Roosevelt for new arrivals.”

The cost of buying a plane ticket is often cheaper than housing an asylum seeker in a shelter.

Some migrants have already booked tickets to destinations as far away as Morocco.
