During a broadcast of his “Cuomo” program, NewsNation star Chris Cuomo accused ABC News of banning the display of patriotism, including wearing flag pins, following the 9/11 attacks.

Cuomo expressed his disagreement with the ban and emphasized his identity as an American.

While the claim of ABC News specifically banning flag pins has been debunked, the network had a “policy of neutrality” that prohibited such displays.

“A video from the Television Archive Project with more than four hours of ABC’s coverage of the terrorist attacks’ aftermath shows none of the hosts wore flag pins,” a fact-check found.

“It’s interesting, you know, I’ve had people — the first time since 9/11 and the war on terror — people have been commenting on social media that I shouldn’t say ‘we’ when we talk about America,” Cuomo said.

“I wasn’t allowed to say this then, but I just don’t care now: I am an American, and I report as an American, and I think about America’s interests,” the host continued.

“Back on 9/11, they wouldn’t let us, at ABC News, wear a flag pin. I always thought that was wrong,” Cuomo said.

“I’m an American, I’m worried about the American hostages, I’m worried about our interests, and that’s one aspect of why I care,” he said.

ABC News is accused of having an anti-American, left-wing bias that skews against Republicans and traditional American values.

This highlights the changing perception of patriotic symbols, with the performance of the national anthem now considered divisive and the LGBT “pride” and Black Lives Matter flags being more welcomed than the American flag.

Nicholas Fondacaro, associate editor at the Media Research Center, said, “Chris Cuomo admits that ABC BANNED their reporters from wearing American flag pins after 9/11.”

‘‘I wasn’t allowed to say this then, but I just don’t care now… Back on 9/11, they wouldn’t let us – at ABC News – wear a flag pin. I always thought that was wrong. I’m an American,’” Fondacaro posted to X.
