Donald Trump has faced a series of consistent defeats in his legal battles against writer E. Jean Carroll.

Carroll has already successfully established that Trump defamed her. U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan found that Carroll’s pending defamation claims echo those in a previous case this year.

This previous case centered on Carroll’s abuse allegation and Trump’s 2022 statements, where he labeled her account as a “hoax” and “a con job.” He accused Carroll of seeking financial gains to an alleged attack he denied ever happened.

Judge Kaplan’s ruling affirmed it’s not a question of whether the former president defamed Carroll but the damages he owes her it.

“The truth or falsity of Mr. Trump’s 2019 statements therefore depends — like the truth or falsity of his 2022 statement — on whether Ms. Carroll lied about Mr. Trump sexually assaulting her. The jury’s finding that she did not therefore is binding in this case and precludes Mr. Trump from contesting the falsity of his 2019 statements.” Kaplan said.

Trump’s attempt to file defamation charges against Carroll was denied.

“The finding that Ms. Carroll failed to prove that she was ‘raped’ within the meaning of the New York Penal Law does not mean that she failed to prove that Mr. Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape.’”

Trump’s recent legal history reveals a conspicuous string of losses, even though he asserts victory in the face of criticism from multiple sources.

“These vicious Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Radical Left Democrats have attacked my lawyers at a level never seen before, and yet I keep on winning,” Trump said.
