It’s true that enthusiasm for Joe Biden is low. But polls also show that the majority of voters vehemently dislike former President Donald Trump, who is the 2024 Republican frontrunner.
Ultimately, American voters will rally behind Biden because a vote for Biden is a vote against Trump.
In September 2023, a poll from American Research Group found that a staggering 71% of Americans find Trump unfavorable. In the same month, a more-friendly YouGov poll found 58% of Americans find Trump unfavorable.
Despite the economic challenges facing America under Biden, voters ultimately equate him with decency and respect. In stark contrast, Americans associate Trump with hate and indecency.

In September 2023, a poll from Quinnipiac University shows that Joe Biden holds a 1% edge over Trump.
Biden is pulling at 47% while Trump is at 46%.
These polls show that Biden and Trump are currently in a statistical tie in a hypothetical 2024 matchup. It is important to note that these polls are still very early and it is too early to say who would win in a general election.
Biden’s approval rating has been low throughout his presidency, which could hurt his chances of re-election. However, Trump also remains a polarizing figure and it is unclear if he would be able to win back the independent voters who abandoned him in 2020.
