Democrat Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico has issued a temporary ban on concealed and open carry of firearms in parks and playgrounds after multiple innocent lives were lost as a result of gunfire.
This instantly sparked widespread backlash from Republicans who believe there should be no limits on the Second Amendment.
Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen of New Mexico argued that the ban is unconstitutional. The sheriff also indicated that he would not enforce the illegal ban.

Allen said, “I hold my standards high and I do not, nor ever will, hedge on what is right. I take my oath seriously.”
“The temporary ban challenges the foundations of our constitution, but most importantly, it is unconstitutional.”
Grisham responded, “I don’t need a lecture on constitutionality from Sheriff Allen: what I need is action.”
She continued, “What we need is for leaders to stand up for the victims of violent crime. We need law enforcement, district attorneys, public officials, school leaders and state agencies to use every single tool at their disposal to stop this violence. Period.”
“We’ve given you the tools, Sheriff Allen— now stop being squeamish about using them. I will not back down from doing what’s right and I will always put the safety of the people of New Mexico first.”
Legal experts, including Jonathan Turley of George Washington University Law School, says Grisham’s ban is “flagrantly unconstitutional.”

“No constitutional right, in my view, including my oath, is intended to be absolute,” Grisham told residents of her state.
The gun ban will last “at least 30 days” because three children were recently shot in the area.
Social media immediately erupted with negative backlash against Grisham. Stripping law-abiding citizens of their gun rights undoubtedly makes Americans less safe. Criminals, by definition, will not follow the gun ban. Now they can be assured that their victims will be unarmed in public.
Billionaire business mogul Elon Musk asked, “How soon can this person be removed from office?” (Trending: Why Joe Biden Must Be Impeached)
There are widespread calls for Grisham’s impeachment and removal from office over the ban.
“At risk of stating what should be obvious, deliberately violating the Constitution is next-level illegal,” Musk added.
The order, in my view, is flagrantly unconstitutional under existing Second Amendment precedent. It could also be a calculated effort to evade a ruling by making the period of suspension so short…https://t.co/aURAa8Ict9
